In Sumy, rescuers have completed work at the site of a Russian airstrike on a boarding house for the elderly. According to updated information, 13 people were injured. A 70-year-old woman died, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

Employees of the State Emergency Service managed to evacuate 147 people from the damaged building.

Russian troops carried out an airstrike on a geriatric boarding house in Sumy on September 19 around 3:40 p.m. The institution housed 221 patients and 60 employees, the Sumy regional prosecutor’s office said.

The technical and 5th floors of the building were partially destroyed. Earlier, it was known about one death and 12 injured.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
