Regional rescuers urge citizens to be “extremely careful” when outside in frosty weather.
According to the State Emergency Service, people were injured due to low temperatures in the Rivne and Sarne districts. Most of the victims are in the Rivne district.
“There were two cases in the Koretsky Territorial Community, a woman born in 1997 and a man born in 2000 died in the intensive care unit as a result of general hypothermia,” the statement said.

A man with 2-3 degree frostbite and a woman with hypothermia complicated by pneumonia were also hospitalized in the Berezniv territorial community.
In Ostroh Territorial Community, a man born in 1945 was admitted to the intensive care unit with frostbite. A man was hospitalized in serious condition before intensive care at the Dubrovytskyi Hospital of the Sarnensky District.
The State Emergency Service calls the main causes of injuries a long stay in the cold without proper warm clothing and neglecting the first signs of hypothermia and frostbite.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the air temperature in the regional center of the Rivne region today reaches -13 degrees below zero.
Strong frosts are further complicating the situation in the energy system, in particular, in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, against the background of intensified attacks by the Russian army.
