Due to the sharp cooling in Ukraine, electricity consumption has increased significantly.
According to Ukrenergo NEC, on April 7, the level of electricity use by 16% exceeded the similar time of the previous Friday. The main reason for this growth was a significant decrease in air temperature and cloudy weather, which reduced the efficiency of household solar power plants.
Negative weather conditions also caused electricity interruptions in some regions. In particular, ten settlements remained in one of the western regions without light.
The cause was heavy rainfall and gusts of wind that damaged the networks. Energy are already carrying out emergency restoration work to restore electricity to all subscribers as soon as possible.
Due to the increased load on the power system, Ukrenergo calls for citizens the use of electricity. Particular attention is paid to the period from 8:00 to 21:00, when consumption is traditionally the highest.
It is recommended to avoid the simultaneous use of two powerful appliances and maximize their use during peak hours.
It is worth noting that Ukraine is actively increasing electricity imports to ensure the stability of the power system. In March 2025, imports increased by 11% compared to February and amounted to 272 thousand MWh.
We will remind, in Ukraine a significant increase in tariffs for natural gas for the population is expected. New prices can be introduced in the summer of 2025.
We also reported that oil prices have accelerated the fall after Saudi Arabia has reduced the price of its flagship oil in the last two years. The escalation of the Trade War increased fears of global recession and a decrease in energy demand.
