The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that elections will not be held in the Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia.

The head of state said this during a meeting with the media in Kyiv together with Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro.

“Elections cannot be held in temporarily occupied territories not controlled by Ukraine. Because it is clear how they will be conducted – as Russia always does. She first talks about the result, even of her own internal elections, and only then counts the votes,” Zelenskyi said.

He added that the next elections in Ukraine require attention to two aspects: security and legislation. “If during the war with legislation it is somehow possible to find steps for changes, then something must be done with security, this is the most important thing,” the President emphasized.

It will be recalled that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky categorically rejected the Kremlin’s attempts to influence the presidential elections in Ukraine. He emphasized that Russia has no right to control the election process in the country, even in the temporarily occupied territories.
