The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development reminded its right to stop the granting of credit and to demand early repayment of already issued loans due to changes in the charter of Ukrenergo.
Maxim Khlapuk, a member of the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, has informed about it.
According to the deputy, the Bank refers to the company’s failure to fulfill the obligations to inform about any changes in the charter and failure to comment on these changes before their implementation.
The EBRD emphasized that under loan agreements have the right to stop the sampling of funds and to demand early repayment of loans if the statute of the company is made changes without agreement with the bank.
The status of Ukrenergo as an independent company was pre -agreed with international donors, in particular with the EBRD. The terms of all loans from the EBRD and other international financial institutions provide that changes to the Statute cannot occur without prior approval of creditors.
In an appeal to the EBRD Ministry of Energy, this situation is jeopardized not only by further financing of the company in the amount of 141 million euros (77 million euros – an unprecedented loan balance and 64 million euros – expected grant), but may also lead to the need to return early 533 million euros early.
In addition, according to Khlapuk, the question of the debt of “Ukrenergo” to the owners of “green” bonds of sustainable development.
