– The early start of the second part of the UPL championship forced the participants to make adjustments to their training plans. However, those, at least, forty days for the training process should be enough to meet new tests in February in full armor. Especially since all the players tried to keep themselves in good shape even during the vacation.
– What do you mean?
– Homework that the coaches gave to their wards every day. I mean fitness and outdoor activities. Of course, it was a serious help before returning to training.
– Almost all of our teams have abandoned the practice of inviting potential newcomers to watch. Why?
– I believe that this is a well-considered decision, because potential recruits often could not demonstrate their best qualities due to excessive emotions. That is why, in my opinion, it is necessary to go to meetings already with new contract workers.
– The vast majority of domestic teams are currently stationed in Turkey, a few – in Spain. Which option do you think is more effective?
– I am leaning towards Turkish, where the weather conditions are closer to those that will be in Ukraine at the end of winter, when the championship resumes. And after returning from sunny Spain, it will still take time to adapt.
– And in the January part of the training, should you pay more attention to “physics” or, given the tight deadlines, should you immediately focus on game practice?
– It used to be a respectable work without a ball. Nowadays, thanks to testing, it is possible to work simultaneously on both “fronts”.
– Are you a supporter of holding a large number of sparring sessions or the actual training process?
– Since each team has about 30 football players at the meeting, it is important that there are 9-10 control matches. Game practice is absolutely necessary.
– How important is the result in sparring?
– I always use as an example the legendary Valery Lobanovskyi, who equated the result of sparring to an official match. And those coaches who claim that in control matches the main thing is game practice, I think that they are hurting their souls. Because the won victory best helps to bear serious loads in training, adds confidence and strength.
– Of those matches of the Ukrainian teams at the meeting, which would you single out?
– I liked “Kudrivka”, which crushed Slovakian “Trenchyn”. “Dynamo” football players were disappointed, as they failed to impress with their individual skills in the match against the middle-class side of the Polish Ekstraklasa – “Korona”. With such a game, the intrigue in the UPL cannot be returned. “Veres” surprised, leading against the Czech “Bohemians 1905” – 3:0, but managed to lose. However, by and large, “Veres” is competitive only when it operates at the maximum of its capabilities. And with the Czechs, the equals thought that the victory was already in their pocket, relaxed and paid.
– Among the opponents of our teams at foreign meetings, there are no famous rivals. What is the reason?
– Unfortunately, recently our paths do not cross with them due to their participation in the main round of European Cups. We can boast of this less and less. Such are the realities, we have what we have. Although, when you take into account that Ukraine has been at war with the Russian aggressor for almost four years, it cannot be said that under such difficult conditions, the level of domestic teams has dropped significantly.
