This was stated by the executive director of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ksenia Orinchak.

Orinchak noted that not only industrialists, but also the agrarian sector, are concerned about the increase in cargo tariffs. “If farmers have joined, it means that the situation is just on the edge. First, factories and processing factories will start to stop. And then those who grow even blueberries, wheat and grain crops,” she warned.

She emphasized that the shutdown of production could lead to a fall in the economy, suspension of contracts and reduction of jobs. According to her, in case of further inaction, there is a risk that Ukrainian enterprises will find themselves in a situation where they can be bought by international corporations at a minimal cost.

Commenting on the position of the state and the regulator, Orynchak said that there is no business dialogue with Ukrzaliznytsia – because now, when industrialists and farmers are signaling a crisis, Ukrzaliznytsia is publicly focused on its own projects and public events.

Earlier, representatives of industrial sectors stated that a sharp increase in freight tariffs could deepen the crisis in the mining and processing sectors and affect the country’s export opportunities.

Earlier, the general director of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business, Oleg Khomenko, also criticized the intention of Ukrzaliznytsia to increase the tariff for freight transportation by 40%. According to him, logistics currently accounts for up to 15% of the cost of agricultural products, so such growth will instantly affect the ability of farmers to work.
