In recent months, the Ministry of National Defense has moved more and more troops and more modern military equipment to the border with Ukraine, the minister said. Miruce said that depending on the level of danger, even more troops could be deployed to the area in the future.
In addition, according to him, the Romanian army is gradually increasing air defense near Ukraine. We are talking about several dozen military personnel, radars and Gepard systems.
The minister emphasized that the military is deploying forces in such a way as to reduce the probability of drones falling in populated areas, but the risk still remains.
“Even with all efforts, one cannot give a hundred percent guarantee that drones will not appear in residential areas, but this risk is small,” he said.
The last serious incident happened at the end of last week. The army learned from a local woman that a Russian drone had crashed in a yard in Vrancha county, almost 200 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
The aircraft was not detected by the army’s radar, so authorities do not know when the drone went down.
“I have an operational phone, on which I receive air alerts several times a night. For some of them, the decision is made to raise F-16 fighter jets, for others, ground systems are used that stop these threats. If it were not for what the Romanian army is doing, you would see news about drones every day,” says the Minister of Defense.
Recently, in the Telenesht district of Moldova, on the shore of a lake found a drone about 2.5 meters long.
Recently, Russian UAVs have flown into the skies of Moldova at least twice. One of the drones exhibited on the steps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before summoning the Russian ambassador.
