UNIANAccording to the results of November, metallurgical companies of Ukraine reduced the export of flat steel products by 56.4% compared to the previous month. Compared to November 2023, volumes fell by 49.2% to 66.2 thousand. t. The main reasons are unfavorable conditions in the global steel market, as well as internal challenges for the industry – in particular, high prices for transportation and gas.Shipments of flat products fell to their lowest level since April 2023, as the industry recovered from prolonged power outages. Since then, exports have been kept at a level not lower than 100,000. t every month.
“The low November results indicate difficulties arising from unfavorable conditions in the global steel market, in particular in the EU, the main export market for Ukrainian metallurgists, as well as internal challenges for the industry, including problems with energy supply, rising logistics prices, a lack of qualified personnel, etc.,” GMK Center points out.
We will remind you that earlier it became known that the NCRECP plans to significantly increase the tariff for electricity transmission, as well as to increase the tariff for gas transportation by more than 300%. At the same time, information also appeared that Ukrzaliznytsia plans to increase the tariff for freight transportation by 40%. A simultaneous increase in the specified tariffs, according to experts, will lead to a crisis in Ukrainian industry and will cause critical damage to the economy and GDP.
