In Ukraine, all large thermal and hydropower plants were damaged / photo UNIAN, Mykola TysDue to large-scale shelling of the power system, Ukraine has stopped commercial electricity exports, since all the gigawatts produced are directed to cover domestic consumption.
This is stated by the Ministry of Energy. “Electricity produced by Ukrainian NPPs, HPPs, TPPs and CHPs is used exclusively to meet the needs of domestic consumption,” the message states.
The Ministry of Energy explained that as a result of massive missile and drone attacks by the enemy in Ukraine, all large thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged. Accordingly, their ability to produce electricity has significantly decreased. At the same time, consumers’ needs for electricity remained at the same level as before the attacks.
Attacks on the Ukrainian energy systemAs energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev told UNIAN, despite the difficult situation in the energy sector, until the last massive Russian attack, Ukraine transferred part of the electricity produced by nuclear power plants to Poland, because due to damaged power lines it was impossible to send it to the regions that needed it, and a surplus was formed.
At the same time, Ukraine not only did not receive commercial benefits from such exports, but even paid the Polish operator to accept Ukrainian electricity.
With the onset of autumn, the Russian Federation intensified its attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. On November 19, the enemy launched a large-scale missile-drone attack on the energy sector. Due to this, emergency shutdowns were temporarily introduced, which were later replaced by hourly shutdowns.
Due to the difficult situation in the power system on November 19, the DTEK company changed the outage schedules several times, increasing the number of hours without electricity.
On the night of November 17, the enemy attacked energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions.
