Dmytro PYDRUCHNYI: “I lost visually for 25-30 seconds – of course, that’s a lot”

Captain of the men’s biathlon team of Ukraine Dmytro Pidruchnyi shared his impressions after the completion of the mixed relay, as a result of which the “blue-yellow” team took eighth place.

The Ukrainian biathlete held the first stage and passed the baton to Vitaly Mandzin, being in the 11th position.

“Of course, the three spare cartridges on the “rack” were superfluous. The race is short, fast – and first of all, you had to deal with shooting. “At the “stand” I had already collected myself, tried to work on accuracy.

I understood that on such a track and in such a race, a penalty circle nullifies all chances of fighting for high places. It was necessary to shoot back accurately.

I think the reason may be that we started from 14th place – from the first lap I tried to get closer to the leaders. It was possible to climb to the fifth or sixth position, but somewhere it played a role, which may have been the reason why it was not possible to cope with the shooting.

On the last lap, I did my best to catch up with the rivals in front. Somewhere it succeeded, as if it was not bad, but it was still quite far from the leaders.

I didn’t see the time, but visually I lost 25-30 seconds – of course, it’s a lot,” concluded Pidruchny.
