“About 9,500 convicts perform tasks at the front, in particular on the front line. 100 women who have received sentences serve in the Armed Forces. They are usually involved in communications, logistics and health care units, ”the Facebook statement said.
The promulgated DCVD reports that 55% of men and women who are currently on the front were convicted of property crimes, 11% for crimes related to drug trafficking; 9% – for injury; 6% – for accidents with victims and 6% – for murder.
According to the Criminal Enforcement Service, not all convicts can get to the Armed Forces, in particular, they cannot do this primarily under articles on crimes against national security-terrorism, sexual crimes, crimes related to the murder of two or more people, as well as official crimes.
Last May, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the second reading the bill # 11079-1, which gives permission to some categories of imposed to mobilize to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At that time, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Masuska suggested that in the first stage of prisoners’ mobilization, Ukraine voluntarily join the army.
