Discussions in the Verkhovna Rada regarding increasing the value-added tax (VAT) have been going on for a long time, but the parliamentarians are still working with the military levy as a specialized tax. People’s deputy, member of the budget committee Lesya Zaburanna said about this on the air of the telethon, reports UNN.

“Discussions about this are underway (about the increase in VAT – ed.), have been going on for a long time, but so far the position is that we work with the military levy as a specialized tax. Indeed, the expectation is more than 100 billion from the increase and introduction of the military levy for FOPs in 2025 year, and this money is important for filling the budget, because I want to remind you that everything we spend on the army today, up to a single hryvnia, can only be our own income and irrevocably spend on the army. In fact, the country should finance the army exclusively from its own revenues,” Zaburanna said.

The Verkhovna Rada plans to consider the draft law, which provides for a tax increase, in mid-October, but its regulations will come into effect as early as October 1.
