In April 2024, a law was adopted in the United States, according to which the Tiktok Bytedance owner has until January 19, 2025, a platform based outside China, otherwise the application will be forbidden in the country.
On January 18, TikTok, along with several other applications belonging to bytedance, stopped working in the US. This happened a few hours before the Federal Law on alienation or prohibition came into force. US President Donald Trump said the day before that “most likely” was delaying the ban on Tiktok social networking in the United States for 90 days on the day of its inauguration on January 20. On January 19, he also promised not to punish companies that would not block this social network before he signed the appropriate decree. After that, the platform began to restore work in the US, but has not yet returned to the App Store and Google Play.
Later, Trump signed an executive decree according to which the Chinese company TikTok owned, received an additional 75 days for the sale of the US business segment. Trump said he was ready to support the purchase of Tiktok billionaires Ilon Musk or Larry Ellison as part of a joint venture with the US government.
