More than 200 probable Tren de Aragua Venezuelan members have been deported from the United States to the strict regime in Salvador, despite a court decision that temporarily blocked the expulsion. The BBC writes about it.
President Salvador Naib Bukele said that on Sunday, March 16, 238 TREN DE Aragua members arrived in the country and 23 representatives of the MS-13 international group. However, neither the US nor Salvador provided any evidence of their involvement to criminal activity.
Earlier, Washington James Boasberg issued a 14-day ban on the deportation of persons whom Donald Trump’s administration recognized as “hostile aggression” against the United States. However, at the time of the decision, the aircraft had already flew, which raised questions about the execution of court orders by the government.
The White House Prescriber Caroline Levitt stated that the administration was legally and deportation took place before the judicial ban was entered into force. The Trump Administration deported these persons on the basis of the Law on Honorary Foreigners in 1798, which was last used during the Second World War to interact Japanese, Germans and Italians in the United States. Venezuela sharply criticized this step, saying that he “unfairly criminalized Venezuelan migrants” and “reminds of the darkest episodes in human history.”
Human protection organizations, including Amnesty International USA, have accused the Trump administration of using the old law to bypass legal procedures. All deported were immediately transferred to the CECOT maintenance center (CECOT) – the largest prison of Salvador, which can accommodate up to 40,000 people. Human rights activists have repeatedly accused the institution of inhumane maintenance.
- Even for January, Donald Trump stated that he intends to sign a decree strengthening responsibility for anti -Semitism in the shortest possible time. One of the options for punishment is likely to be deportation.
- The French MP Rafael Gluxman at the congress of his left -centric movement Place Publique stated that Washington no longer embodied the values that prompted Paris to give the statue of freedom America in the nineteenth century. Therefore, the US should return the statue.
