“According to Mette Frederiksen, six aircraft have already been delivered”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
“Six have already been delivered. This was the first batch. We have been teaching since last August. It was difficult, but we managed, the process continues. Then there will be a party and another party. There will be 19 (planes) in total,” she said in Kyiv at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the Ukrainian authorities have asked the West to provide modern F-16 fighter jets. In 2023, several countries, with the consent of the United States, decided to transfer such planes to Kyiv.
Almost a year later – on July 31, there were reports that the first long-awaited F-16 fighter jets had arrived in Ukraine. As reported by the Bloomberg agency at the time, it is about a “small number”. The Times later wrote that there were six planes and they came from the Netherlands. Neither Ukraine, nor the USA, nor the EU countries that transfer the F-16 (besides the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway) did not provide official confirmation at the time.
In October, the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Breckelmans, announced that the first of the 24 promised F-16s had been delivered to Ukraine.
