According to the report, 80 million Danish kroner will be a contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine; 30 million will go through UNOPS Ukraine and East Europe for equipment to protect energy facilities; 40 million Danish kroner will be transferred through partners who will be able to provide emergency assistance as soon as possible.
In addition, as reported by the Ministry of Energy, Denmark has already handed over used equipment from the Asnes power plant in Kalundborg for the needs of the Ukrainian energy sector, which is “critically necessary” for Ukrainian energy companies to carry out restoration work on facilities damaged by Russian attacks.
The Ministry of Energy noted that Denmark has provided systematic support to Ukraine’s energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and in the spring of 2022 became the first donor to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, which currently unites 36 countries and continues to raise funds for the purchase of necessary equipment. In addition, Danish partners are helping Ukraine to implement a number of projects that strengthen the energy sustainability of Ukraine’s regions, particularly the frontline regions.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of the fall of 2025, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the Ukrainian energy industry.
Russian troops launched another massive attack on Ukraine on the night of January 20. In Kyiv, 5,635 high-rise buildings remained without heat, almost 80 percent of them are houses where heat supply was restored after the shelling on January 9.
The Security Service of Ukraine qualifies Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure as crimes against humanity. The SBU previously noted that since the beginning of this year’s heating season, it has documented 256 air attacks by the Russian Federation on energy facilities and heat supply systems of Ukraine.
