On January 22, the October District Court of Poltava chose a preventive measure for Oleksandr Liev, a former official of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine – arrest for 52 days. He is suspected of embezzling state funds.

Details: Liev will be in SIZO until March 14 this year. He can be released from custody on a bail of more than 9 million hryvnias.

The hearing on the case was postponed twice due to the non-appearance of the prosecutor.
According to lawyer Liev Nazar Kulchytsky, they plan to file an appeal against the court decision.
What preceded:
- In January 2024, Liev was informed of the suspicion of embezzlement of almost UAH 1.5 billion for the purchase of shells for the Armed Forces.
- The State Bureau of Investigation announced suspicion on Oleksandr Liev for supplying 200 low-quality machine guns to the front on January 14, 2025.
