Details: According to analysts, one of the parts of “Oreshnik” bears the number and date of production – April 12, 2017. And the fact that this rocket uses a part that is more than 7 years old directly says that this particular “Hazelnut” was assembled around 2017-2018. And it was from this time that the rocket itself lay somewhere in a warehouse.

In 2017, Russia planned to start serial production of the RS-26 “Rubezh”, which is seen as the real name “Oreshnik”. But in March 2018, Moscow allegedly decided to cancel the supply of RS-26 for service.

Literally: “It also means that the development of the Oreshnik was started much earlier, because 2017 is the year of production of a specific part. But the design of this missile was apparently started in the early 2010s, if not earlier.”

Details: Defense Express also established that the index of the found part – “EFIT 302811.002” is related to the Russian rocket and space enterprise NPCAP named after Academician N. A. Pylyugin, which is part of “Roscosmos”.

According to analysts, the company develops control systems for missile systems such as Zenit, Proton-M and Fregat booster units.

In addition, the National Security Agency created control systems for intercontinental missiles “Topol-M” and their modernized versions. Defense Express analysts suggest that the Oreshnik was assembled from off-the-shelf components, including stages from the Yars and Topol missiles.

Literally: “Ultimately, the fact that in 2017 the control system for a medium-range ballistic missile already existed in metal in the Russian Federation once again proves that the Kremlin actively violated the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium- and Short-Range Missiles with the United States, also with this development. And not only with missiles for “Iskander””.

Details: Analysts noted that the analysis of the missile debris is still ongoing.

Prehistory:

  • According to the Air Force, during the missile attack on the city of Dnipro on November 21, the Russian Federation used an intercontinental ballistic missile. “UP” sources reported that it could be a “Rubezh” missile, which is a potential carrier of a nuclear charge.
  • In his address on November 21, Putin said that during the morning attack on the Dnipro, the Russians used the Oreshnik medium-range missile. According to him, it was a test launch of this “latest missile”.
  • The United States officially confirmed that Russia struck the Dnipro on the morning of November 21 with a ballistic missile that was based on the RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile.
  • On November 22, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense announced that on November 21, the aggressor state Russia struck the territory of Ukraine, using a ballistic missile, probably from the Kedr missile complex.
  • Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the State Educational and Scientific Research Institute, noted that “Oreshnik” is the name of a research paper, “it’s just a cipher.” According to him, as of October 2024, Russia was supposed to produce two experimental samples of the missile from the Kedr missile complex, one of which flew over the Dnipro on November 21.
  • On November 28, Putin announced the alleged start of serial production of the Oreshnik system. The leader of the Kremlin said that he could use the Oreshnik missile against “decision-making centers in Kyiv.”
