The bureau emphasizes that this procedural action is in no way related to its professional activity.
“Mobilized in 2022, the person involved in a long time did not appear to the place of service and under the guise of” business trips “was in civilian institutions that were not part of the defense forces. The facts of receiving monthly cash in the amount of more than 50 thousand hryvnias are also documented, despite the actual absence in the military unit, ”the message reads
According to the DBR that the person involved “illegally used the SUV, imported into Ukraine as humanitarian assistance for the needs of the army – without proper registration and in the absence of legal grounds.” According to the bureau, the car was used for personal purposes, including for movement in Kiev.
Law enforcement officers do not specify the name of the suspect. However, this message appeared after the statement of the Center for Combating Corruption (CPC) about searches at the chairman of the CPC board Vitaliy Shabunin at the place of service and at home.
Last March, Vitaly Shabunin, Chairman of the Center for Combating Corruption Center, claimed that the State Bureau of Investigation registered two criminal proceedings against him for allegedly evasion of military service and forgery of NAPC documents.
He stressed that he did not evade military service, and also published a photo of a military ticket, stating that he made a military oath on February 25, 2022. Shabunin considers him “idiotic”.
Then the DBR stated that Shabunin’s criminal case obliged the court. Tatiana Sapyan’s Communications Advisor on Communications of the State Investigation Bureau on Radio Svoboda noted that the DBR investigators opened criminal proceedings in December 2023, under two articles – “Forgery of Documents” and “Military Service”. According to her, the proceedings were united. At that time, Shabunin had no procedural status in this criminal proceedings.
