DBR completed the Shabunin investigation and returned to him withdrawn gadgets

The DBR employees have completed the investigation of criminal proceedings against the Chairman of the Board of the Center for Combating Corruption Vitaliy Shabunin, after acquaintance with the case file, the indictment will be transferred to court.

Details: The investigation throws Shabunin that, having mobilized in 2022, he said, for a long time he did not appear to the place of service and under the guise of “business trips” was in civilian institutions that were not part of the defense forces. The CPC head is also charged with receipt of monthly cash, despite the actual absence in the military unit. According to the bureau, such actions he caused losses of more than 224 thousand hryvnias.

It was also stated that during the investigation the circumstances of the use of a vehicle intended for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were investigated, as a result of which the reasons for notifying him were not found.

The DBR states that on August 14, electronic gadgets were returned to the suspect during a search at his place of residence. The return decision was made after all the necessary procedural actions.

The serviceman is charged with Part 4 of Art. 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – evasion of military service in the conditions of martial law, Part 2 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – fraud.

In the same criminal proceedings, the suspicion and a commander who contributed to the serviceman in the evasion of military service were reported.

The sanction of articles provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

Prehistory:

• On July 11, the DBR announced Shabunin of suspicion of evasion of military service and fraud.
• Shabunin called President Vladimir Zelensky after the searches and stated that he was taking “confident steps towards corruption authoritarianism.”
• On July 15, the Pechersk Court of Kiev elected Shabunin a preventive measure in the form of a personal obligation by August 20.
• More than half a hundred NGOs responded to the case against the chairman of the Center for Combating Corruption and called on Zelensky, as well as OGP leaders Ruslan Kravchenko and DBR Alexei Sukhachev to stop using a system of justice for political massacres.
