According to Czech Prime Minister, US President Donald Trump has changed his country’s foreign policy fundamentally, and European states have to respond to it.
“International order is undergoing the greatest changes in the time of the fall of communism,” the Fiala said. The Prime Minister said that Trump’s actions on Ukraine were talking about the political departure of the United States from Europe.
“This does not mean that the US is no longer an ally,” the Prime Minister said.
Fiala noted that Russia is still a great danger to combat which one must be strong and determined.
Fiala noted that the Czech Republic should increase defense costs up to 3% of GDP over the next few years. The Prime Minister spoke about the adoption of new EU rules that will allow weapons to be purchased. EU countries should also use frozen Russian assets to provide further military assistance to Ukraine, said Fial.
Prague provided military and humanitarian aid from the first days of the war, and also accepted hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees. The Czech Republic insists that the peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine cannot be agreed without Kyiv’s participation.
