In Ivano-Frankivsk region, during the “Horses of Boykivshchyna” festival, which took place on January 24-25 in the village of Porogy, cruel treatment of horses was recorded.
Horse competitions were held as part of the event, during which the animals were forced to pull large wooden logs. The released videos show horses being beaten with sticks during exercises.
According to animal rights activists, after the video was distributed, concerned citizens contacted the police. At the same time, volunteer Anzhelika Leshchenko reported that the law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene did not see signs of cruelty to animals in the actions of the competition participants.
UAnimals said that it is preparing an official statement to the police with a demand to provide a legal assessment of the actions of the organizers and participants of the event and to check possible violations of animal protection legislation.
Animal rights activists emphasize the need for law enforcement agencies to respond and stop practices that can harm animals during public events.
