Crazy January. The forecaster promised atypical mid-winter weather for the next two weeks

After moderate frosts last week, Ukraine is returning to atypical January warmth. The air temperature in the next seven days is expected to be +, and if there will be small “minuses” occasionally, then only at night.

Anzhelika Hanchuk, forecaster of the Ukrhydrometeorological center, told NV about this.

And all because of the movement of a huge cyclone, which is located over the North Sea and will head towards Scandinavia. “We will be in the warm sector of this cyclone, and our currents will move from the south and southwest,” the expert explains the reasons for the arrival of warm air.

On the night of January 7, except in the north and northeast, it is close “zero”, and in the rest of the territory it will be +2…+6 degrees. Daily values ​​will range from +3 in Sumy Oblast to +11…+13 in the western and southern regions. “So when on Wednesday night [8 січня] another batch of precipitation will arrive, it will be in the form of rain, not sleet,” promises the expert. This applies primarily to the western and northern regions. And on the evening of the 8th, we expect mixed precipitation, wet snow in the western, northern, and Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

In general, this pattern will remain almost until the end of the week: the air temperature will range from +3 to +8 during the day, depending on the region, and at night from +1 in the northern regions to +7 degrees in the south.

But on Thursday, January 9, it will be a little colder in the north, namely at night the temperature will show −1…−2. Also, wet snow is possible on Thursday night. Then another portion of precipitation is predicted for the next weekend – western regions, as well as Kyiv region, Cherkasy region, Kirovohrad region and Odesa region.

At the same time, the forecaster warns of wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s in some places.

And already next week, the temperature values ​​will go back to “zero”, but at least no significant frosts are expected at the moment, except for another wave of heat later, until the next weekend.

“We won’t have a usual winter yet. But this is an advantage for us — for the energy industry, for the military,” Hanchuk emphasizes.

In Kyiv and the region, the temperature range will remain above zero during the week: at night +1…+3, during the day the values ​​will reach up to +9, for example, January 7 will be the warmest day in the region. From January 8 onwards – up to +5…+6 degrees, and on January 10-11 – up to +6…+8. Precipitation – mixed or rain – is expected on January 6th, then on the night of Thursday January 9th and Saturday January 11th.
