International commissions for the selection of heads of various state bodies are increasingly finding candidates from NABU and SAP to be dishonest, but these investigators and prosecutors continue to function in anti-corruption institutions. Internal control departments of anti-corruption bodies do not observe such cases and do not react to them, because it is about “their own”. He announced this on his Facebook page people’s deputy of the 8th convocation Borislav Bereza.

“It is gradually becoming the norm, when SAP prosecutors and NABU detectives massively participate in various competitions. There, their commission with foreign representatives considers them unworthy to head the department, as there are signs of dishonesty, but at the same time, this does not become an obstacle for their further work in the anti-corruption system. NABU has a personal internal audit unit, which should be the first to notice and react. But he does not see. And even now they don’t notice or don’t want to notice, because “he’s a scoundrel, but our scoundrel,” noted the ex-National Deputy.

He mentioned that the last such incident was the applicant for the position of the head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, NABU detective Mykhailo Burtovyi.

“This representative of the anticor system is trying to assure ordinary people on quite serious grounds that he saved up to 80% of his earnings from a young age, fed himself all his life exclusively from transfers from the village, his mother received more than 60 land plots during his difficult struggle in NABU with the corruption monster, while not having a clear explanation for the ownership of this property. And NABU does not note this,” Bereza stated.

He focused attention on the presence of Burtov’s set, which is characteristic of unscrupulous officials.

“In general, this candidate of sciences and the head of customs collected the entire spectrum of a successful civil servant – incomprehensible property of relatives, cars at low prices, savings from a young age, a penchant for science without loss of service. Perhaps he also managed to get a lawyer’s license, working as a detective “without leaving work”?” — summed up the ex-Nardeput.

As previously reported by the publication “Informator”, the head of one of NABU’s departments, Mykhailo Romanyuk, bought expensive real estate and premium cars and registered them for relatives: mother-in-law, father, mother. Apartment, land plot with house over 200 square meters, Mercedes-Benz E 220 CD. And, having all this, in the end he received a mortgage under the “eOsel” preferential program for another house – 117 square meters.

According to information from the “Informator” website, Roman Nedov, the deputy head of the NABU detective department, bought two apartments for his mother-in-law in different years, who later gave them to his wife at a significantly reduced price. In general, through manipulation, he systematically hid more than one hundred thousand dollars worth of property. This money cannot be confirmed by the earnings of either Nedov or his wife or their relatives.

“Informator” wrote about the fact that the head of one of NABU’s departments, Valentin Shmitko, for several years declared significant amounts of cash, which sometimes reached two-thirds of his annual income. And then he withdrew UAH 4,350,725 of alleged savings from the state. Since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia, Shmytko’s wife rested in resorts in Europe and the USA, while receiving state social assistance in Ukraine.

According to “Ukrainian News”, almost two dozen NABU employees were found to have false or falsified information regarding cryptocurrency in their declarations. Journalists assumed that NABU employees hid millions of corrupt funds in these crypto wallets. Senior detective Oleksandr Rykovtsev was found to have committed the largest amount of cryptocurrency violations: his wife allegedly purchased more than $1 million worth of bitcoins at today’s prices in 2016.
