In the third round of the group of Serena Williams, the American beat the second racket of the world in three sets Igu Svyontek (Poland) in 2 hours and 37 minutes.

Anisimova held her third head-to-head match against Svyontek and won her second victory. On July 12, Amanda defeated Iza with a score of 0:6, 0:6, and on September 3, she defeated the Polish woman in the quarterfinals of the US Open – 6:4, 6:3.
Amanda is playing at the WTA Finals for the first time in her career and immediately made it to the semifinals. Anisimova took the final second place in the quartet after Yelena Rybakina. Svyontek with one point became the third and left the competition.
Anisimova became the third American woman to advance to the semifinals of the Finals on her first attempt, following Serena Williams (2001) and Sloane Stephens (2018).
