In December 2025, a ten-year transitional period will end, during which Ukrainian cognac producers were supposed to change the name of their drink to “brand”.

This is a requirement of the European integration of Ukraine, which must be fulfilled from the beginning of 2026. Those who do not have time to change their name risk receiving fines of up to 130,000 hryvnias.

Anatoly Korchynskyi, CEO of Bayadera Group, said that they are currently completing the production of the last batch of cognac under the Koblevo brand — this is a limited batch of 20,000 bottles of the 10-year-old drink.

Every year, the company produces approximately 10 million bottles of cognac and brandy.

Korchynskyi emphasized that starting from January 2026, all drinks produced will have the name “brandy”. This change is the result of a new law harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with the norms of the European Union.

For manufacturers, this means the need to adapt to new standards, but it also opens up opportunities to improve the quality of products in the domestic and foreign markets.

We will remind you that Armenian producers will stop bottling cognac.

France is also trying to protect its cognac from high Chinese tariffs.
