According to him, the administration is investing resources to deliver previously promised weapons by January 20, when Biden will hand over power to President-elect Donald Trump.
“The Ministry of Defense is making historic efforts to transfer huge shipments of weapons to Ukraine over the next five weeks. From today until the middle of January, we will deliver to Ukraine hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of rockets, hundreds of armored vehicles and other critically important equipment,” said the interlocutor of the TV channel.
On December 12, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the White House is allocating another $500 million package of “urgently needed weapons and equipment” to Ukraine. It included ammunition for HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems, ammunition for repelling drone attacks, and artillery shells of 105 and 155 mm caliber.
Since the beginning of December 2024, this is already the third aid package to Kyiv from the Joe Biden administration. On December 3, the United States allocated $725 million in aid to Ukraine, and on December 7, another $988 million.
