Choose carefully: which goods cannot be exchanged or returned

Products in the Photo Store: State Consumer Service

One of the most common requests that citizens are guided by the State Consumer Service is the conditions of return or replacement of products. Knowledge of their rights allows buyers to prevent conflicts with sellers and to defend legitimate interests. This was reported on September 17 in the department.

“According to the current legislation of Ukraine, the buyer can replace the goods within 14 days, provided that its original condition, the absence of traces of use and the availability of a payment document. At the same time, a list of categories of products that cannot be returned or exchange approved by the Government is valid. This norm is intended to ensure the safety of life and health of consumers,”

According to the official list of the Government of Ukraine, they are not returned:

• food, medicines and drugs, hygiene products;
• cosmetics and perfumes, orthopedic products;
• soft and inflatable toys for children, newborn care items (nipples, bottles, diapers);
• toothbrushes, nail care appliances, shaving, hair, comb;
• sleeping and bedding;
• socks, stockings;
• gloves;
• tulle and lace fabrics;
• carpets sold for footage;
• jewelry made of precious metals or precious stones;
• audio and videos (discs, cassettes);
• book products;
• aerosol products;
• building materials, cut under individual parameters;
• products made of natural or synthetic hair (steam);
• accessories for musical instruments;
• Photo – films, photo paper, plates).

Recommendation to buyers: Before buying carefully, study the conditions of return in the store. In case of uncertainty – be sure to make sure the seller is possible to exchange a particular product.

Tip for entrepreneurs: Place a list of non -back goods in the trading area. This will prevent disputes and increase customer confidence.
