– Serhiy, just a week ago, all the mass media wrote that you were training with U-19, and today you are already at a training camp in Spain. How does a first-team player feel when he is told: “You are no longer training with the first team”?
– It was a difficult period. But we believed until the end that we would be able to find a compromise with the club and resolve the situation. I took the fact that I stayed to train at the Zhytomyr base as a given: for myself, I decided to remain a professional, keep fit and train regardless of where. So he did. Therefore, I am glad that in the end we agreed.
– Was it unexpected for you or were you already ready for such a development?
– During the negotiations, the position was voiced: until we agree on the contract, I will train at the base in Zhytomyr. Therefore, you can say that I was ready for it. I stayed there for a short time – we quickly resolved everything in a personal conversation with the president.
– Many rumors appeared in the press, in particular about conflicts with Zagurskyi and Shevchuk. How true is this?
– This is complete nonsense. I don’t know who is writing this and why, but I am definitely not the source of this information. I respect every manager of FC Polissia and have never had a conflict with anyone here, especially with Zagurskyi or Shevchuk. We are in a normal working relationship. I’ll say it simply: someone wrote an outright delusion.
– They say that your personal conversation with Gennady Butkevich put an end to this story. What were they talking about?
– Yes, indeed, the point was made in a personal conversation. But I will not reveal the details – it is unethical. I always thank Gennady Vladyslavovich for the advice he gives me. I appreciate this person very much, so we talked quickly and resolved all the issues just as quickly.
– Is it true that the president of Polissya convinces better than any agent?
– I would say otherwise. An agent or manager has a completely different job — he has to stand by the player and defend his interests. For Gennady Vladyslavovich, the club is in the first place, and I believe that this is correct. Each president defends his club and tries to do the best for it. It’s just a different job. But I talked a lot with Gennady Vladyslavovich – he is a person who is building the future of Ukrainian football and the country in general. And you can always learn a lot from such conversations.
