On February 4, US President Donald Trump signed a decree restoring the “maximum economic pressure” policy to Iran aimed at obstructing oil exports and slowing down its nuclear program. He instructed the Ministry of Finance to apply pressure through sanctions and mechanisms of coercion to individuals and legal entities that violate current sanctions.
In early March, Bloomberg reported that Russia agreed to assist Trump’s administration with Iran on various issues, including Tehran nuclear program and its support for regional anti -American sentiment.
