In her new memoir, published last week, Cher recounts the reasons she lost her virginity at age 14 and revealed what drove her to seek revenge.
According to excerpts from the memoirs released by the singer, she was in love with a high school student who lived in her neighborhood. The difference in age did not hinder them in any way when they were alone. However, in the presence of friends who were older than Cher, the boy treated her like a child.
A problematic moment was the situation when Cher and her boyfriend once met his friends in a restaurant. Then the latter mockingly asked the boy if he was going to take “that kid” with him. And as a result, he simply “dumped” Cher and went to eat with friends.
It hurt me so much when he did it, so I had sex with him out of revenge. I didn’t want that. Otherwise I would have done it one of the five hundred other times he asked. But I was so angry about being dumped, so I decided, if not to lose it, then to lend him my virginity.” When what turned out to be a very overrated affair was over, I asked him, Is that it? Are we done?
“Then I told him to go home and never come back. I wanted him to feel as humiliated as he made me feel. Even though he kept trying to make it up to me, I never spoke to him again.” the singer shared.
Cher is currently dating 38-year-old musician Alexander “AE” Edwards.
