“The independence of the judiciary is at work, and in this case it came to the conclusion that there is enough evidence to take this step now,” she said.

During the meeting, the G7 ministers discuss the consequences of the ICC’s decision on Netanyahu and try to develop a common position regarding the arrest of the Israeli prime minister if he travels abroad.

Italy, as the organizer of the meeting, is preparing a formulation that would be supported by all G7 member states.

On November 21, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant “for crimes against humanity and war crimes” committed during the campaign in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu called this decision anti-Semitic, and the court’s accusations were “absurd and false.” Israel’s closest allies, including the United States, also condemned the arrest warrants. The US said it “rejects in principle” the decision of the International Criminal Court.

In turn, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán promised not to execute arrest warrants, and Britain refused to say whether they planned to arrest Netanyahu.
