Rabbia, Aphseneh, Nonsky University, has been improving CMF for over ten years. Advanced Materials Manufacturing (AMM) has recently announced its readiness for full -scale metal foam production. After testing, CMF technology has proven efficiency in weight loss, carbon size and emissions, as well as in improving the safety and productivity of modern engineering structures.

This durable and lightweight material consists of a network of hollow metal bubbles integrated into a matrix of steel, titanium, aluminum or other alloys. According to Rabia, CMF is the strongest metal foam, although it is not the first of its kind.

In the 2019 study, scientists have found that CMF armor provides equivalent protection against caliber balls .50 (Both bullet and armor) compared to conventional steel armor. The CMF layer absorbed 72-75% of the kinetic energy of ball balls and 68-78% of armor -piercing balls. The 2016 study, published in the International Journal of Thermal Sciences, showed that CMF isolates much better than solid metal. Researchers have subjected a solid sheet of stainless steel and a sample CMF exposure to flames with a temperature of 1472 ° F (800 ° C). Steel reached a certain temperature in four minutes, while CMF took twice as much time – eight minutes. Excellent CMF thermal insulation is due to air pockets inside its structure. As the slaves explained, the heat spreads slower than metal. This property makes CMF suitable for the protection of heat -sensitive materials – from dangerous chemicals to spacecraft.

CMF is promising for the construction of spacecraft due to its radiation protection properties. The material proved its effectiveness against x-rays and gamma rays-dangerous radiation widespread in space. It also demonstrates the potential to block neutron radiation, such as that is produced by nuclear reactors and explosions.
