The Minister of Agriculture commented on the complaints of producers about the increase in, according to them, food imports, which violates the competitive environment in the country. Takhov explained that this is really a problem, since we are talking about imports from third countries outside the EU.

“When the import of a certain type of product or product – vegetables, meat, eggs – reaches certain limits, which the EC has outlined in advance, then we can activate the mechanism of banning their import. Currently, we do this from the point of view of eggs,” the minister explained, adding , that they are already included in the list of goods with increased duty and the next step is being taken, as he will demand their absolute ban at the meeting of the EU Council.

As a reminder, the EU has launched a mechanism of protective duties for Ukrainian honey since August 21, which will be in effect for all further imports of products until the beginning of June 2025.

In the spring, the EU created a safety mechanism to limit free trade with Ukraine.

In June, this mechanism was applied for the first time and extended to only one type of import – Ukrainian oats, later it was used for eggs and sugar, as well as honey.
