“I have instructed British prisons to adopt Ukraine’s experience in the fight against drones. We know that drones in prisons pose a direct threat to national security, and that is why we are resolutely fighting these gangs, investing millions in security and the latest technologies,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
In the past five years, the number of drone incidents in British prisons has increased by 1,140%. In the fall, Sky News journalists recorded how drones delivered packages of drugs to HMP Wandsworth, a men’s prison in south London.
Great Britain has provided assistance to increase the supply of drones to Ukraine, allocating 350 million pounds in 2025. Of this sum, £6.5m is going towards drone research and development, as well as new technology that will enable British prison staff to better detect and shoot down drones.
As written, on Friday to Kyiv the British delegation arrived, in particular, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Great Britain David Lammy.
It will be recalled that earlier the Minister of Defense of Britain, John Geely, announced the plans of London finance the production on the territory of the United Kingdom of long-range drones for Ukraine.
