Pilots of the British Royal Air Force and Royal Navy will receive a new advanced cruise missile after the first successful test of the SPEAR guided missile. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, writes UNN

Details

The agency’s press release states that “SPEAR” is a new-generation small cruise missile with a turbojet engine, which was successfully tested after it was launched from a BAE Systems Eurofighter Typhoon fighter at the Widsel test site in Sweden.

It is noted that this is the first time that the weapon was used against a target.

The agency noted that the missile can be used against air defense systems, ships, tanks, fortified buildings, and fast-moving vehicles. SPEAR missiles are intended to be placed on F-35 fighter-bombers, which will be able to operate from air bases or aircraft carriers of the Queen Elizabeth type.
