“NATO needs to continue to adapt to the world of AI because as technology evolves so does the threat,” the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster said at the NATO Cyber Defense Conference at Lancaster House on Monday.
To help the UK stay ahead of the “new AI arms race”, the chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster has announced the creation of a new AI Security Research Laboratory (LASR) to “protect the UK and its allies from new threats”, the British government said in a statement.
The lab will reportedly bring together world-class industry, academic and government experts to assess the impact of AI on national security.
It notes that while AI can amplify existing cyber threats, it can also create more sophisticated cyber defense tools and empower intelligence agencies to collect, analyze and obtain more useful intelligence.
