Great Britain allocates an additional 20 million pounds (23 million euros) to Ukraine to support energy infrastructure. The funds are planned to be used for the purchase of critically needed equipment and materials for emergency repairs. London’s total aid now amounts to 164 million pounds (about 190 million euros), writes the Ministry of Energy.
As the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted, this assistance is a practical step within the framework of the Centennial Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and Great Britain, which strengthens joint energy security and sustainability.
“The Energy Support Fund of Ukraine will use these funds for a balanced package of priority measures, including emergency network repairs, to ensure heat and electricity supply to millions of Ukrainians and protect critical infrastructure,” the Ministry of Energy explained.
The Secretariat of the Energy Community, which manages the Fund, will work closely with the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to ensure that the funds reach the most urgent needs on the ground. Since the foundation of the Fund in April 2022, 36 international partners have transferred more than 1.6 billion euros to restore Ukraine’s energy sector.
The money raised will be used to purchase equipment and materials for emergency repairs, replace damaged network elements, strengthen passive protection, and implement solutions that increase decentralization and stability of the power system. “These are concrete steps that help energy companies to quickly respond to accidents and maintain the stable operation of networks throughout the country,” the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
