With the beginning of summer, prices for some products have crawled down. First of all, the young cabbage is pleased with the price tags, which in May almost went to the category of delicacies. In the same time, the prices for other vegetables of borscht set were rapidly flew.
About what is happening and what will be the price tags in July – in the material Briefly about.
Change of vector A month ago experts interviewed Briefly aboutnoted that due to a long cool spring with a repeated drop in temperatures below zero, early vegetables will appear on the market with a month late. That’s when prices are expected.
These forecasts have begun to be implemented from the beginning of summer. Yes, the first week of June, a sharp fall in prices for cabbage of a new crop, which resulted from increasing the seasonal supply from local farms. And the fact that the demand for cabbage remained relatively low, further affected the price level. As a result, if in mid -May white cabbage was sold almost 70 UAH per kilo, then in the first decade of June prices fell to 30 UAH per kilogram.
At the same time, prices for potatoes, carrots and onions were simply flew. Experts traditionally explain this with a low supply, not very good quality of products, as well as the period of transition to early vegetables.
Also World Bank expert Oksana Ruzhenkov It predicted a slight decrease in egg prices, and we see it today: in a month, prices have decreased by 7%.
The forecasts for the growth of price tags were justified.
– Prices for pork and beef are recorded today, chicken is gradually pulled up, – Oksana Ruzhenko explained a month ago in a comment Briefly about. – MHP – the largest chicken producer in Ukraine – has expanded not only the European but also the African segment of its business. Companies are profitable to increase production outside the country, especially in the European market, since Ukrainian consumers want the level of income.
A month has passed and we can state the result: in four weeks, chicken fillet prices increased by 13%.
As for bread, the profile industry associations say that by the end of the year it can go up by another 20%. The beginning is already assigned: wheat flour price tags have risen by almost 9%.

According to the State Statistics Committee For a month, prices, according to official statistics, increased by 1.3%, and for a year (May before May), inflation, according to the State Statistics Committee, was 15.9%. Products per month officially went up by 2.8%, and per year – by 22.1%.
According to official statistics, absolutely all groups of products have risen for a year, and it is difficult to argue with it. You can not believe statistics, but your own wallets do not definitely do not stupid.
To the top 5 record holders with The rise in prices per year entered:
- Eggs +86.0%
- Vegetables +35.7%
- Sunflower oil +35.4%
- Butter +28.5%
- Bread +22.3%
Projections: Inflation will be minimal Prices for vegetables in the coming month will continue to move down. As Oksana Ruzhenkova explained, usually in July-August prices increase, and decrease only at the end of August-September, during mass harvesting. But this year, farmers who are engaged in small vegetables in small areas have planted medium ripening vegetables, so we will see relatively affordable prices for all vegetables in July.
Prices for dairy products will remain stable at best, but meat and bread will continue to grow. Earlier editorial Briefly about She analyzed the prices of products in Ukraine and Europe and found out that meat and flour prices are not the only ones that have not yet reached the “European level”. At the rest of the positions, we have not only caught up, but also overtook Europe.
By the way, the National Bank even saw a certain positive.
“We have already approached the prices of food products, and for individual products even exceed prices in neighboring countries,” the NBU Deputy Chairman Sergei Nikolaychuk quoted. “Through this factor, we expect that we will be able to avoid the repetition of last year’s significant burst of food inflation.”
