The head of the Office of the Head of State emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine has brought suffering to millions of Ukrainians, and its consequences affect the whole world, as the alliance between Russia, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela is strengthening.
“They together destroy the world order, create chaos, because chaos is a world ruled by force. They are fueling regional conflicts within the global war against democracies,” he said.
Andriy Yermak emphasized that Ukrainian children suffer from Russian aggression. 596 young Ukrainians died and another 1,736 were injured. Russia has deported or forcibly relocated thousands of Ukrainian children.
The head of the President’s Office is convinced that Brazil, committed to the protection of human rights and ensuring global stability, can act as an intermediary in the return of Ukrainian children, which is one of the priorities of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and his team. In particular, Brazil can join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, which already includes 41 countries.
Andriy Yermak also expressed hope that soon Volodymyr Zelenskyi and US President-elect Donald Trump will be able to discuss substantively how to achieve a just peace for Ukraine.
“No one wants to end this war and get a just peace on our land more than Ukrainians. This is the most important thing. And Putin does not want to end this war. He wants Ukraine to disappear as a state,” said the head of the President’s Office.
According to Andrii Yermak, it is important to develop a single joint plan that will ensure the restoration of the force of international law, and Brazil could play an important role in this process.
