During his Nov. 23-27 visit after the G7 talks conclude, Blinken also plans to meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican to discuss pressing international issues, including the Middle East and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
From 2024, Italy presides on a rotating basis in the G7, which also includes the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
This meeting will take place against the background of Western allies allowing Ukraine to strike with Western long-range weapons deep into Russia and Moscow’s recent attack on Ukraine with an “experimental ballistic missile.”
