Details: In a statement, Biden noted that his family “has been subjected to constant attacks and threats motivated solely by the desire to harm me.”
“Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe that these attacks will stop,” he added.
That’s why, according to Biden, he used his constitutional authority to pardon his brother, James B. Biden and his wife Sarah Jones Biden.
Biden also pardoned his sister Valerie Biden Owens, her husband John T. Owens, as well as his younger brother Francis Biden.
“A pardon should not be taken as an admission that they have committed any offense, and should not be taken as an admission of guilt for any crime,” Biden stressed.
Previously, Biden decided to preemptively pardon former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, former director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci.
Members of Congress who worked on the committee investigating the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, were also subject to preventive pardons.
The pardon will apply to one of Trump’s most famous critics, former member of the House of Representatives Liz Cheney.
Before that, Biden decided to pardon his son Hunter, against whom there were two criminal cases, contrary to his own promise not to do so.
