On February 11, 2026, the fifth day of competition begins at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Ukrainian athletes will compete in six disciplines at once, among which the hottest hopes are in biathlon and luge.

The day will begin with biathlon, a unique sport where women have not yet participated in the Olympic Games. The competition will be held in the normal Gundersen format: first jumps from a normal springboard, then a 10-kilometer race. Men’s hockey matches also start. This time, players from the world’s strongest leagues, including the NHL, are taking part in the Olympics for the first time in 12 years. It will be a real holiday for fans, because the level of the game promises to be incredibly high.

Ukrainian hopes in biathlon

The key event for Ukraine will be the women’s 15 km individual biathlon race. Khrystyna Dmytrenko and Olena Horodna prepared for this start purposefully, and clean shooting can open the way for them to high positions. “We are determined to fight for every second. Every clean streak on the firing line can be decisive,” says Khrystyna Dmytrenko.

Biathlon has always brought medals to Ukraine, and on this day the attention of fans is focused on this sport.

Debut in luge sports

On February 11, women’s doubles luge will also make its debut at the Olympics. Ukraine is represented by Olena Stetskiv and Oleksandra Moh. “This is our first start at these games, and we want to show our best. It is important to keep the rhythm and not lose concentration on every descent,” says Olena Stetskiv. For luge women, this is a chance to assert themselves, because the discipline is very technical and requires perfect synchronization of two athletes.

Other disciplines

In addition to biathlon and luge, Ukrainian athletes will compete in several other disciplines: ski racing, ski jumping and hockey.
This is the day when the blue and yellow will be represented in almost all areas of winter sports, and fans expect bright results.

Competitions take place in Kyiv time.

  • Biathlon, women, individual race 15 km – Dmytrenko, Horodna
  • Double sleds, women – Stetskiv, Moh
  • Skiing (men)
  • Hockey, men (NHL)
  • Ski races
  • Ski jumping from a springboard

February 11 is a day of hopes and chances for Ukraine. Blue and yellow athletes will compete in six disciplines, and special attention is focused on biathlon and luge sports. This is another step towards possible medals and good results at the 2026 Winter Games.

Also, the Ukrainian figure skater held an action in support of Geraskevych at the Olympics.

Before that, the International Olympic Committee confirmed the decision to ban the Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Geraskevych from performing in a helmet with the image of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia. The IOC said that such a helmet does not meet the recommendations, instead offering the athlete to use a black armband as a sign of memory.

The NOC of Ukraine asks the IOC to allow Geraskevych to perform in a “memory helmet”.
