Videos with a new version of the hit collect thousands of views and helped give the song a new life.Olga Goshovska, the wife of the late performer, drew attention to this on her Facebook page. The cover of the composition was created by the Ukrainian band “Boyki” from the city of Kalush. One of its members began recording videos in which he interpreted the hit in different ways. The video quickly gathered thousands of views and went viral on TikTok.
Hoshovska expressed her gratitude to the band, which gave new life to the song “The First Snow”, and also noted that the artists managed to attract the attention of young people to her husband’s creative heritage.
“This is what a new arrangement, a modern interpretation, a youthful pulse means! The song is rapidly gaining hundreds of thousands of views and becoming mega-popular. Again! And the most gratifying thing: young people are listening to it! Well done, the “Boyki” band! Thank you!” Olga wrote.
Previously, “First Snow” was performed by the famous Vatra VIA group. Ihor Yosypovych wrote the music for the composition, and the words were written by the poet Bohdan Stelmakh. The original version of the song sounds in the 1982 musical film “Vatra calls for a holiday”, where it was performed by Oksana Bilozir and Maryan Shunevych.
As you know, on May 8, 2000, Bilozir was in the “Cisarska Kava” coffee shop in Lviv, where the composition “The First Snow” was also performed by journalist Bohdan Hnatovskyi. The company sitting at the next table did not like the song, because it allegedly interfered with their listening to the Russian chanson.
Because of this, the 45-year-old composer was beaten to death in front of dozens of people. The artist died 20 days after the incident in the hospital from his injuries. 20 years after the beating, the court issued a decree on the imprisonment of the two murderers. They were deprived of liberty for 10 and 8 years.
By the way, Oksana Volodymyrivna was the artist’s first wife. The couple had a son Andriy in 1982. However, the couple divorced in 1991. Within two years, Bilozir married Hoshovskaya and lived with her until his last days.
We will remind you that earlier Iryna Bilyk sang the Ukrainian hit “We are not there”. The composition received a new sound and now the singer will perform it in Ukrainian.
