Bad Bunny took a painful-looking tumble onstage during a concert this week at the 65,000-seat GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City.

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, was in the midst of a rendition of his song Efecto when the incident occurred.

While striding across the stage, the ex-boyfriend of Kendall Jenner slipped and fell dramatically backwards and slightly sideways, landing directly on his rear end.

Rather than rising to his feet immediately and continuing the performance, he sat silently onstage for a few beats before gathering himself back up again.

His massive audience could be heard singing the lyrics to Efecto for him before he stood, in fan footage of the accident that surfaced on X, formerly Twitter.

The fall took place just two months before Bunny plays the Super Bowl halftime show, a booking that has proven controversial as a result of his anti-Trump political stance and the fact he raps almost entirely in Spanish.

Although he has performed frequently in America before, he has excluded the mainland U.S. from his current Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour.

He has said touring the 50 states this time was ‘unnecessary’ and expressed concerns over potential ICE raids targeting his audiences.

However he did play a 31-date residency in his native U.S. territory of Puerto Rico from July to September, with guest appearances from fellow superstars ranging from Marc Anthony to LeBron James to Rauw Alejandro.

After Bunny’s Super Bowl booking was announced in late September, U.S. President Donald Trump slammed the move as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘crazy’ to Newsmax.

Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem assured YouTuber Benny Johnson that ICE would be ‘all over’ the football game to ‘enforce the law.’

The furor intensified when footage went viral of Bunny staying pointedly seated during a performance of God Bless America at a New York Yankees game, while surrounded by fans who were standing up for the song.

Bunny previously played the Super Bowl in 2019, turning in a guest appearance during the halftime show led by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

As the outrage gathered steam over his upcoming Super Bowl concert, he received a vote of confidence from Lopez on the Today show.

She raved that his performance would ‘blow everybody’s mind,’ hailing him as ‘one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top.’

Claiming to be unaware of any ‘controversy’ surrounding his hiring, she added that she was ‘so excited’ for his halftime gig and said his music ‘transcends language.’

Rumors began circulating that Lopez might make a guest appearance at Bunny’s halftime show, in a full-circle moment from her 2019 performance with Shakira.

However she left fans crestfallen by saying there had been ‘no talk’ of an onstage reunion, during an interview on Watch What Happens Live.

‘I have not gotten any calls! So I just want to put the expectation down. But of course if he wanted me to do something, I would definitely do it,’ she said.
