White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt told reporters last week that Trump “would have preferred Kid Rock to perform over Bad Bunny,” referring to an alternative offering from Turning Point USA.

At the end of his performance, Bad Bunny said “God bless America”, performed several of his most famous hits in Spanish and paid tribute to Puerto Rico, which is part of the United States. While some may see this as a challenge to immigration, Puerto Ricans have been US citizens since 1917, despite not being able to vote in presidential elections and not having a vote in Congress, as Deadline points out.
