“Sinner declared his innocence and rejected the accusation of privileged attitude”, – WRITE: Sport.ua
No one expected that the Italian would talk so frankly and sincerely about the process during which he proved his innocence in the doping case, through which he was removed from the competition for three months. Earlier, he preferred caution and left information to his lawyers and official bodies, but in Wimbledon-2025 decided to take a step forward.
It all started with the question of a Polish journalist working on the material about Camil Mayhzhak’s case – very similar in the case of Sinner, but with a much more severe punishment. The journalist wondered whether Sinner considers it advisable to create a special protocol or tennis player with less financial capabilities so that they can appeal and challenge such decisions, because it is necessary to hire lawyers, scientific experts and other highly qualified specialists to build perfect protection.
Sinner declared his innocence and rejected the accusation of privileged attitude
“I was able to hire a lawyer with an impeccable reputation because I have money I don’t have in others and that I made my own work. I went through the same process that all tennis players in a similar situation. I have not received any special attitude. Maybe my defense was more effective because I had the best specialists next to me.
ITIA spends the same time for each case. I know that in the past there were contradictory decisions, but my case was checked repeatedly and very carefully, and my innocence was always confirmed. ”
Answering the question, Sinner took a defensive position. Instead of directly supporting the idea of creating a help fund to less secured players, he again emphasized his own innocence and the absence of indulgences through his status.
“If such an initiative can help someone, I will be glad. But the essence is not that. I repeat: if it had happened to me at the age of 18, I would probably not be able to defend myself as now, when I had resources to collect a strong team. ”
