Temperatures in most regions will drop to -5-13°C, with possible sparing frosts in some areas, predicts forecaster Natalka Didenko.
Icy will remain on the roads, but no precipitation in the form of snow is expected, instead, dry and sunny weather is forecast due to an anticyclone covering the country.
“Christmas in Ukraine will be really cold,” Didenko said.
As the forecaster said, at night in most regions the temperature will drop to -5-13 degrees, during the day -3-8 degrees, in Transcarpathia and in the Crimea close to zero.
Today, the weather in Ukraine will still be determined by an anticyclone, so dry and sometimes even sunny weather is expected to prevail, precipitation is unlikely.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center explained that the cold weather without precipitation is caused by a high pressure field from an anticyclone centered over the North Sea, as well as the arrival of a cold air mass from the north. The wind is mainly northwesterly, 5-10 m/s.
In the capital today, it is forecast to be about -10 degrees, during the day the temperature will be -3-4 degrees.
According to forecasters, it will be coldest in eastern regions. At night, the temperature in some places will drop to -12…-13 degrees, during the day, thermometers will fluctuate between -2…-5 degrees.
In the northern regions frosty weather is expected. At night -8…-10 degrees, in places up to -11, during the day the temperature will be about -2…-4 degrees.
In the center of the country -7…-10 degrees of frost are predicted at night. During the day, the air will warm up to -2…-4 degrees.
In the west the temperature will be slightly milder. At night -8…-10 degrees, in the Carpathians in places up to -11. During the day, it is expected to be -2…-4 degrees, sometimes up to -1.
In the southern regions at night, the temperature will fluctuate between -6…-8 degrees. During the day, thermometers will show about 0…-2 degrees.
Crimea is the warmest. At night it is forecast -4…-6 degrees, during the day the temperature will rise to 0…+2 degrees.

As Didenko noted, immediately after Christmas, on December 26, Ukraine will be visited by atmospheric fronts – it will snow, the wind will increase, but the air temperature will also rise.
