He told about his plans, desired rivals, the title, fees and friendship with Lozan Reznichenko in an exclusive interview with Sport.ua.
– Tell us how you started boxing?
– I started boxing in my home town of Korsun -Shevchenkivsky at the age of 13. Earlier, I was engaged in sprinkling, but one day my first coach suggested beating my paws, and a month later we were at the Junior Region Championship.
– What was your first match?
– I boxed with the Uman boy, unfortunately I lost. Although, I recently looked at the duel and I think I was stronger there. I was simply not given a victory as a beginner.
– How do you evaluate your amateur career?
– I spent about 130, and for the rating, I probably about 6-7 points. He won the Ukrainian Championship among students, was the winner of the Ukrainian Youth Championship, and also took high places in other tournaments.
– Tell us about your debut in Prof. What was he?
– My first professional battle at the age of 16. I remember, I had a physical education lesson and my first coach called me. Said there was an opportunity to try yourself in the prof. As far as I understand, I was taken to some Cherkasy guy who was older than me. Well, then, I came there, “caught” him and Vlad Yeliseyev gave me a thousand hryvnias for it.
– Why did I decide to go to a professional box at such an early age?
– I love all contact sports, there was always a thirst for it. When I started doing this sport, I had a hard -working box, because I always liked these outputs, it is a show and bloody fights.
– What was the most difficult fight for you?
– There was no such match, but I would not say that the battle with Zura was easy. There was tension in my feet and I expected a powerful blow from him and some. I was reminded me of every round before I did not lose concentration.
– Tell your match for the WBC Ukraine title? How do you evaluate the fight and the opponent?
– We tuned to a much heavier fight. We can say that we were preparing for any scenario, but not for this.
– What does these belts mean to you?
– This is the first step to the fulfillment of my most cherished dream, because I want to become a world champion. And these titles will help me go to my goal.
– After that, you decided to sign a contract with KO Promotions. Why?
– A few days have passed and my coach tells me that KO offers me a contract. We looked, there were good conditions, somewhat corrected and agreed. In general, I am very glad, I have a cool promoter, a cool coach, a cool team.
– What are your plans with KO? To what level will they try to bring you out?
– The only level is the highest – to become the world champion. Of course, not in the coming years, but I think it will definitely come and the main thing is to go smoothly to it.
– What fees do you get for your duels? Which was the biggest?
– I just got my first fee for a fight with Zura. I can only say that it was more than a thousand dollars.
– How do you evaluate this promotional?
– This is a cool promotional, it was only recently created and already at a high level. I know, there are promising boxers Roman Gavrilyak, Vladimir Savida, well, Alexander Hrytsiv is a star of this soaked. Everything is well here and there is someone to develop.
– What are your desired rivals right now?
– Well, Tim Ju, it would be a bomb. And so, I would not mind jumping out with some Jarman Charlo. A year later, in two, I would pull such a fight. Well, with Foundra and others, let us understand until Sergey Bogachuk, and I will get up later. From Ukraine I am interested in Vasya Chebotar.
– Tell us a little about friendship with Daniel Lozan, he gave you hello from Dazn. And what are your relationships?
– Yes, I tell him, “Brother, when you win, be sure to pass me into the camera.” We are more than friends with him, I am very worried about him, here he recently wished him success, because he had already gone to the second stage of the Grand Prix. We have very warm relationships, we try to help each other as we can.
– How do you evaluate Lozan’s prospects?
– I think he will still make a very serious breeze and rivals such as Devin Haini and Ryan Garcia will not be difficult for him.
– What is your main purpose in your career?
– I would like the first world title – WBC or IBF. As for the rivals, in 10 years I want to box with Terens Crawford. Of course, it is a fantasy, but when I started boxing, I didn’t even imagine that I would fight 10 rounds for your belts. The main training and not to go out of their way.
– And what is your forecast for Crawfood’s battle – Cannel?
– I am ill for Crawford, but I think that this change of weight categories will affect the battle and Kanelo will be more likely in this match. Maybe it will fall on it and knock out Terens.
– What kind of boxer do you consider in your weight now the strongest in the world?
– I really like the Ortise, who not quite honestly won Bogachuk. Of course, the strong fighters in this weight are Sergei, Foundor and Adams. There is also Madrimov, which has not yet revealed his potential in the Prof.
– Share the expectations of the battle Usik – Duba 2?
– I think Alexander Usyk wins 100%, but I think that this battle will be heavier, because the British is now on a moral uplift after victory over Joshua and Khrhovich. He is sure, but I think the fight will look like the first and maybe Daniel will also be dirty, beat below the belt, insert your elbows and interfere. And so, I think he will not be able to show Usik.
– Who would you like to see Usik in the next duel?
– Well, Parker is not interesting, because Usik would play him in the class. Ituma will not get to Usik yet because it is too young. Alternatively, Uzbek Jalolov. In general, I think it would be nice to nail Duba and make a third fight with a fury and finish his career.
– Who is your idol?
– I do not have idols, but I like Roy Jones, the same Crawford, James Tony, Floud Mevezer, well, I still take some moments from the technique of Usik. In general, I look everyone in a little and take something for myself.
